Asperger's And Christianity

Read the remainder of my blog entry to see what I wrote to somebody on the topic of western churches, and how they deal with Asperger's Syndrome.

Yeah, you're right. There isn't much room for abnormality. That being said, even though I've been lonely my entire life, people were relatively good, as far as I can recall.

The truth is that I deserved a lot of what I suffer, because I didn't make a lot of effort to go out and be with people. Hopefully, things will change in the future.

That being said, I blame the western churches that I have seen so far. None of them give me the impression that they are trying to discover anything new. Churches would rather wait for the non-Christian world to figure out everything, and then churches will set up special ministries for people that they feel led to minister to.

Do you feel led to brush your teeth, put food on the table, or cloth your children? Children might need a special calling to chores, ;^P but us?

Do we really need a special calling to understand parts of our own group body [i.e. the body of Christ]? When do we actually *actively* try to figure out how to incorporate all dedicated members in the overall local church ministry?

Does the church ever focus on people skills? I can't really remember a single sermon on that. Obviously, it's not fundamental to daily living, right? We focus on soft topics, such as love, prayer, and faith, to elicit a warm feeling. So, if a guy fails, then obviously it would be because of lack love, and/or prayer, and/or faith, right?

Although the answers are obvious enough, and although we know what is true, I think that we need to recognize that our unfortunate actions speak louder than words.

I can't seem to understand why people can't seem to spare me 15 minutes only once, while I can spend 4 hours volunteering [several times per week], 2 hours for each round trip, and hundreds of dollars for a 3 zone month pass. I'm trying to not be bitter or upset. I know how hard it is for people.

I think that the only passage that gives me the hope is a small passage that we tend to gloss over. There was that passage about the man born blind, and his blindness was not related to any sin in the womb, or any sin that his parents committed. Imagine what life must have been like back then. He lived his entire life as a blind man, with no hope for meaningful work, and thus, he probably had no chance for a relationship. Those are the 2 things that I'm desiring right now. He suffered for all that, and it was only so that God could show his miracle. That's a long time to wait to see. From that passage, I learned that God is peculiar in his dealings with us, and life is not always what we expect it to be.

I hope that I don't come across as bitter, but I put a lot of thought into this Asperger's problem. I think that a lot of people are being left out in the cold. We tend to devote more money, time, and prayer to bums on the street who rebuke and curse God, than we do to people who don't understand why people act the way that they do.

Anyhow, more power to you, for raising awareness on the issue.
