ODF Demonstration Template [contains a colour palette]

[Update: I wrote a new blog entry that should help you find things that are mentioned in the instructions.]

For those of you who don't follow the OpenOffice.org template site, I want to point out that I created a template, which contains a different colour palette. The template is meant to demonstrate that you could save a colour palette with the template.

Technically, you can't attach a colour palette to a OpenOffice.org document or template, but you can copy the colour pallet file's content into the template or document. The colour palette file's content is just text. There are instructions available in the demonstration template's properties.

Afterwards, be sure to check out that blog label, "templates", where you will find more of my discoveries on how to make use of templates.

  1. I am so ignorant that I was even ignorant that I am. :(

(I'm new Templates, and much of OpenOffice's other features).

Many of the Templates posted do not have adequate information, or instructions (such as how to use it and work it). This is why I appreciate your guidance (not withstanding my fundamental ignorance).

I couldn't find my "color palette folder" in which to save the text that I copied.
So, I made one. (Maybe I shouldn't have pasted it onto Notpad).
Then, I couldn't locate the "Area" tab you mentioned. Finally, when I found it, I couldn't figure out how to load it. And when I thought I figured it out - it failed to load!

    Thank you for listening,
    The OakNut

  2. Keep trying and don't always blame yourself. The designers deserve a lot of the blame.

Your color palette folder should be visible, if you click the load button. For me, it is this.
    "/home/eugene/.openoffice.org/3/user/config/"
As for you, you're probably a Windows user, so your folder will be different. Let me know if you can find something like this.
    ".openoffice.org/3/user/config/"

Thanks for sharing your difficulties. I never realized how hard it was. I'll go change the instructions, and try to have it up, next week.

Pasting it into Notepad should be okay.

I'm sad to read about your difficulties. I really am. It should be much easier.

How do you know that it failed to load? Was it because of error messages?

Can you give me more information? I'll keep working with you until you get it.

  3. Hi again, Oaknut.

Just so that you know, I wrote a new blog entry with a picture of where to click, and where to look for those things that you had difficulty with.
